The Sasquatch Tornado

Thought I'd share a little story of an experience a friend of mine Tom and I had a couple years ago. Tom is a fellow researcher and close friend here in Tennessee. About once a month we'll meet up for a weekend of camping at one of our research areas. A couple years ago on July 4th weekend we went camping at one of our favorite research spots. This area is totally secluded and miles from anyone or anything. First of all I'm not suggesting that anyone try this and if you do, it's at your own risk. Somehow or another we got the bright idea to get fireworks and try to draw in some attention from the local bigfoot. Trying to have the respectful approach, we made sure to ask for fireworks that were quiet and only produced bright colors...absolutely no loud explosions.

Well, it was getting pretty late so out came the fireworks. I placed them in the middle of the road, lit the fuse and ran off...waiting. Next thing you know the entire surrounding forest is lit up like a football stadium and explosions are going off like a complete war zone. Leaves are raining down everywhere from the rockets exploding in the trees. We are totally freaking out from the complete betrayal of the fireworks salesman's promise of "These aren't the type that explode."
Fully expecting zero activity due to our failed attempt at "entertaining" the local Sasquatch, we immediately start speaking out loudly towards the woods..."We're very sorry for the noise! We didn't know this was going to happen! We're sorry!" Absolutely disgusted with ourselves and the deed we'd done, we head back to our campsite with our ears still ringing form the recent battle. Eventually we called it a night and got into our campers for bed.

I'd say about 30 minutes after going to bed, Tom radios me saying something is throwing rocks at his metal fold-out camp table next to his camper. I have the window next to my head open so I begin listening intently for anything and everything. A few minutes later I begin hearing what sounded like small pebbles smacking the backside of my camper. It's not overwhelming, but just an occasional "tap...tap" of pebbles. After a little while longer all seems to go quiet and being totally exhausted, I eventually start drifting off to sleep. That was until something with VERY  heavy footsteps runs quickly past the window next to my head. My eyes pop wide open and I just lay there frozen. Next, I hear a really loud CRACK! from the woods on the other side of my camper. I then hear what sounds like a very large tree being dragged through the woods. Snaps and pops of limbs underfoot are all around our campsite! Tom gets back on the radio and says "Are you hearing all this? It sounds like a sasquatch tornado out there!" At that point it was starting to almost become hilarious at the activity all around us as it didn't seem aggressive, just noisy! It was like the entire family came out to say hi!

For pretty much the rest of the night there was constantly some type of snapping limbs and brush being moved around. We never did see anything, but they definitely made their presence known. I'll have to say, this night was one of the best memories I have to date involving sasquatch research. We will be returning to this location very soon and needless to say I'll bring a few fireworks. Just maybe not as obnoxious as the last ones...sparklers maybe?

Tent Eyeglow Follow Up

About five years ago I spent the night at a campground within the Smoky Mountains National Park. It was an area that I had been researching for quite a while. Through interaction, gifting and multiple encounters, I was and still am quite positive about Bigfoot activity there. On this particular night I had set up a night vision scope and camera within my truck to watch my campsite while I slept. I did not notice any activity while on location, however when reviewing the overnight video I saw a strange light appear behind my tent right after I went to bed. Since then another Tennessee researcher, Scott Carpenter, performed an analysis of the video and was able to pull out more detail.
This is a link to his video analysis...

Not long after reviewing the video I decided to go back to the location and do a daytime follow up. I was able to confirm that the location and situation was ideal for a sasquatch to stealthily creep up to observe my campsite. The landscape and lighting conditions were perfect that night.
I was also able to document how the ground behind my tent sloped downward allowing for a much taller individual to appear shorter from the road where my camera was running. On site follow up visits are something that can add much credibility to any encounter. If possible, always try make a second visit to encounter locations. Take photos and video to match the originals as closely as possible. Rule out misidentification or confirm what you saw was really there. Not just for others sake, but most importantly for your own! So many people go their entire lives wondering what it was they saw or if it was really even there. Was it a stump, tree or bear? Visiting the location and walking through the encounter again can help you remember details you may have overlooked. If that "tree" or "stump" is gone when you return, chances are you might have actually seen something.

The follow up video...

Was this eyeglow from a bigfoot that appeared behind my tent? I just cant say that it was for sure. In my opinion, the evidence is not conclusive enough. Why cant we see more of the body? Why didn't I see something when I walked right past this location? Questions that lead to more questions.
Do I believe there was something there? Absolutely, I do.
I know without a doubt there are bigfoot in this area. That and the great work Scott did of analyzing the original video help me to believe it's quite possible a sasquatch paid me a visit that night. There was at the very least something strange going on that I simply can't explain.

I completely leave this for you to decide for yourself. Thanks for your time and until the next post, the adventure continues...

Screaming In The Rain - Bigfoot and weather

Weather conditions, moon phases, seasons and so forth have always peaked my interest where Bigfoot activity is concerned. One condition in particular is rain. Is there activity during thunderstorms? Is it more active just before, during or after a rain? Do the Bigfoot hunker down like we do when it gets bad? Where do they go when the wind gets rough and trees start falling? What about hailstorms? So many questions and so few answers.

Springtime in the smokies means many things... one of which is rain, rain and more rain! A very unpredictable weather pattern is the norm here to say the least. I spend a lot of time monitoring various locations with long duration audio recorders that come on at dusk and turn back off around daybreak. Rainy weather makes for a harsh recording environment with many wasted nights of audio filled with extremely loud raindrops. When reviewing, it used to be that I would immediately delete the rainy nights and move on to the more quiet rainless nights. Not so anymore, as it turns out that things DO happen when you least expect it! Especially when you get a short break in the rain during a storm and you can actually hear what’s going on.

During the spring of 2016 at one of my national park recording locations, there was a period of approximately two months that the bigfoot were noticably more vocal than usual. Yells, screams, wood knocks, whoops and footsteps.
During that time, I obtained several quality recordings in which some were actually during adverse weather conditions.
There was one particular rainy night that stood out the most... producing two extremely loud and forceful yells that sent chills down my spine. I could only imagine what it might have felt like to hear something like this while standing there in the total rainy darkness.

This recording happened at approximately 10:30pm. Earlier that evening heavy storms had passed through the area leaving much moisture still dripping from the trees and frogs croaking in the background. In this recording you will hear a single yell. After a short pause, a response yell from further away answering back. If you listen with headphones, you will also hear possible whoops and wood knocks in the background.

Scream and Reply

I would like to reinforce the fact of how remote and deep in the mountains this area is. Several conditions strongly indicate in my opinion that these vocals are not man made.

1. Time of night.

2. Location... a remote uninhabited area deep within the smoky mountains.

3. Extreme weather conditions earlier that evening. Very unlikely people would be out.

4. Vocal range of these calls is extremely hard for humans to create.

5. Why would people be in the middle of a deep remote forest at this time of night in bad weather conditions making these particular calls?

I suppose anything is possible, but take a listen and I’ll let you decide for yourself!

Research Area - Audio Project Update

A few weeks ago I posted a video about a new spot I have established to leave gifts and monitor with my long duration recorder. This location is within the same general research area I've been working on for well over a year now. This will be the third time I have moved the recorder and gifting spot. At first I was concerned that moving my location every few months might cause a sense of distrust or heavy caution toward me from the family I am interacting with. However, so far this seems to NOT be the case. All three locations have been within a one mile radius of each other. The first two locations proved to be very effective in obtaining audio along with my gifts being taken, however in this third area things still remains to be seen.

Saturday (12/31/16) I visited the area and retrieved fourteen nights of audio that I am now reviewing. The honey bun I previously left was gone and the toy horse appeared to be untouched. Of course the food could have been taken by raccoons, opossums or even coyotes. I suspect most food that I do leave is taken by the common forest critter looking for a snack. Even though this may be true, I have to stick to consistency and routine. While most food may be taken by animals I highly suspect some of it is being taken by the bigfoot. By leaving food over and over I become predictable which is exactly my goal. The more predictable I become, the more trustworthy I become. Of course being predictable puts me at the "tactical" disadvantage, but so be it. This is their home, their forest...their world. I have learned things are done on their terms, not mine.

On this trip I left two cherry pies and a handful of trail mix. I also left an apple in a small tree nearby. I didn't touch the toy horse. We will see if it is eventually taken. I took a small bite out of one of the pies as a means to show they are safe to eat...not to mention I was hungry.
Fourteen 12 hour nights of audio were obtained that I am currently reviewing. On the second night of recording I picked up a pretty amazing coyote pack communicating with each other. Towards the middle of the recording you'll hear one particular coyote very close to the research area. I'm pretty sure I've seen this guy on one of my many night visits. Take a listen...

Foosteps In The Forest

While most of us lie contently asleep in our beds, in the dark there remains an extremely active world within our forest and national parks each night. The chilling screams of a barred owl as it proclaims its territory to others. The lonesome coyotes howl as he reveals his location to other members of the pack.  The haunting sound of a creaking tree as it sways in the mountain wind. These sounds and so many more like them go unheard by most human ears each night.

Then there's the occasional curious bipedal (two legs) individual that walks right up to my recorder for a late night inspection. As much as I truly love the sounds of nature at night, instances like this are what I'm after. A virtual needle within hours and hours of an audio "haystack".

This approach was obtained by my recorder earlier this year. At the time, it was in a different location than where it is  now...about a half mile away. I had great success at this location recording what I believe to be sasquatch yells, wood knocks and walking.

Although it is very hard to say exactly what this is walking up without actually seeing it, I lean strongly toward it possibly being a sasquatch for several reasons.

  1. Location...extremely remote/off trail  area of the national park. Strongly supports it not being human.
  2. Time of day... this happened around 2am. Again, strongly supports not being human.
  3. The heaviness of the steps. You can actually hear limbs/twigs snapping underfoot.
  4. Sounds like two legs walking.
  5. This is a very typical behavior of a sasquatch given their curiosity of something "different" in their territory.

Take a listen...

Back to the Smoky Mountains we go...

The year of 2016 has been quite an experience and full of discoveries for me with my research.
It's been a little over a year since my last blog post and I have to say I've really missed sharing my research in this way. Where have I been? Well, let me just give you an update...

Most of my spare time is spent in the mountains putting out recorders in remote areas. At the same time, by leaving gifts/food, I am trying to establish a trust relationship with what I believe to be a family of sasquatch. I spend countless hours reviewing audio... listening for wood knocks, footsteps or whoops and howls...anything to alert me to the possible presence of a sasquatch.

I no longer walk through the woods with a video camera aimed every which way, however I do use my phone to make short informative videos or take pictures to document research. I have a recorder that is timed to come on only at night and records about 22 nights worth of audio. Once I download this audio it is reviewed with software that allows me to move through it quite quickly.

Like I said, it's been a very eventful year so there is much to catch up on. Unfortunately that can't be done in a single blog post, so keep an eye out for future post.
I'm looking forward to sharing many things I have discovered and as usual, I welcome your feedback.

Home Run Wood Knock!

This was a classic "Home Run" wood knock recorded in the Cherokee National Forest here in Tennessee. The term "home run" is a slang-term used within the Bigfoot research community to describe any wood knock that sounds like a Major League Baseball player knocking one out of the park! It is not common to hear one and it is not known for sure why the Bigfoot do this except maybe to get your attention.
I'm still not quite sure what else in the middle of nowhere without anyone around for miles at 2:30 am can make this sound. This was recorded on the last night of a multi-day, late summer expedition. The knock came from approximately 75 yards away from where we were sitting around a campfire. This had been an extremely "active" trip. Rule number one is to always have the recorder going!

Sasquatch Gift Accepting

The following is a recording I obtained within the Smoky Mountains in the spring of 2015. I strongly believe it to be a young juvenile sasquatch cautiously approaching and accepting a gift that I had left behind one night. The footsteps are bipedal and quite fast. This area is heavily wooded and this particular night was very dark and overcast. Whatever it was could obviously see extremely well to run this fast through the woods at night.

This is a location that I pass by on the way to one of my research areas. After finding several possible stick structures in the surrounding woods, I felt this might be a good location to start leaving gifts and a recorder on the way in. On this particular night, I stopped and left a honey bun (still in wrapper), two peanut butter cups (one in wrapper and one opened that I had taken a bite out of) and a small stuffed animal on top of a large boulder. I then placed my recorder behind a tree approximately 15 feet away. About an hour later I came back and found the stuffed animal laying on the ground about 8 feet away and only the wrapped peanut butter cup taken. Just my opinion, but an animal would have most likely taken the unwrapped candy along with the other food items.

What's so intriguing about this audio clip to me is the insight it shows of what extreme cautions they take with something as simple as approaching a gift left by someone that's been leaving them gifts for over 5 years. Several times throughout the recording it sounds like something (possibly a rock or stick) being tossed into the area to maybe test for a trap. Then you hear several passes made at high speed before the final real approach is made. Even after this it only stands there for a few seconds before making a getaway. Many people have reported hearing items tossed into their camps while in their tents before hearing footsteps. Perhaps to see if we're asleep. This is not only showing  high levels of intelligence, but problem solving skills and logical thinking. Amazing to me.

This was the next day. I had put the stuffed animal back on the boulder before I took this picture. Everything else is just as I found it the night before with the wrapped peanut butter cup missing...

Stick Structures

Back during the summer of 2013 I was making visits to one of my established gifting areas on a regular bases. The activity was quite consistent and intriguing to say the least. Stuffed animals were being taken, complete gift baskets with fruit/snacks were being taken (basket and all) and I was actually finding gifts left for me in return. Mushrooms picked and left on the fallen tree where I left food items along with sticks balanced perfectly across that same tree were truly fascinating. Rocks were being rearranged, peanut butter jar lids were being unscrewed and one was actually left on a log like someone had been sitting there eating lunch!

Around that same time I found a star shaped structure created from broken limbs approximately 30 yards up the creek from my gifting location. I always felt there was something special about that area and never did I disturb the star structure in any way. It always felt "sacred" if that makes any sense.

I did however create my own "teepee" style structure about 20 feet away from the fallen gifting tree.

For the next few weeks I monitored the my structure, but never noticed any changes or anything that may have seemed like a response. It wasn't long after that I was unable to get back out to this area for quite a while due to several personal happenings in my life.
I did get out to this area occasionally over the next year and a half, but mostly night time visits where I would not go into the woods.

On March 29th of 2015 I made a trip back to this gifting area. It had been almost a year and a half since I had been here. What I found that day has baffled me for months now.
About 10 feet away next to the fallen gifting tree was a new star structure against a tree. It was the same tree that I had hung a flower necklace in back when I was visiting this area.

Also, the small teepee structure I had made was still there and in perfect practically untouched condition. Not the first leaf or tree debris was on top of the structure. It looked like I had made it yesterday.

Maybe it's just me, but I can't see how a year and a half worth of leaves falling, storms, and heavy snows had not disturb the structure one time. It was almost like someone had been taking care of it the whole time. Take it for what you want, but it still blows my mind today.

Before and after...

Getting Back To The Basics...

The following is a blog write-up fellow Tennessee researcher Scott Carpenter put out several years ago. The first time I read it I knew he had nailed something that I had been considering for quite a while. I couldn’t tell you how many times I’ve gone back and read it. This way isn’t for everyone. There are many styles and methods people use to “research” the Bigfoot. This just happens to be the one I feel truly called to follow.

Please read the following post by Scott Carpenter…

The only way to truly study the Bigfoot is in its environment.  In order to do this TIME is required. Like Jane Goodall we need passionate and dedicated researchers willing to spend months or even years in the woods with the Bigfoot. Living there 24/7 building trust with a Bigfoot clan. This is the only way I see that we can ethically move forward. This is the logical next step. The problem is we are all amateurs and have no outside financial support for our research. Spending this kind of time will be impossible. This will slow down the research to a painfully slow crawl. Interaction will be built one weekend at a time instead of one day at a time.

I do find it interesting that Jane Goodall took a novel approach in her research.  Per a PBS special Goodall admitted that she had no “collegiate training directing her research”. She “observed things that strict scientific doctrines may have overlooked”. I find this extremely interesting and true of many Bigfoot researchers today. We are not trained in this field of research that is ignored and scoffed at by 99.9% of mainstream science. We do however, like Goodall, bring a common sense approach that is not shackled by “scientific doctrines”. When dealing with Bigfoot research you must think out of the box and be willing to be completely unconventional, that is the only way.

This focus on the study of Bigfoot is going to frustrate those still wanting “proof” or close up HD footage of the Bigfoot. The only way I see HD footage of a Bigfoot being taken (without killing one) is through what is commonly called “habitation”. The researcher is going to have to select a location that is in the Bigfoot’s home range and then spend as much time as possible in this area. The video cameras must be turned off, trail cameras taken down, hair traps removed, and the senseless wood knocking and screaming has to cease.

The “real” work now begins! The day to day field work of going into the home area and making yourself available. We must learn to be unconventional! We are attempting to make contact and have interaction with a race of people whose very survival depends on their ability to avoid us and remain hidden.  Trust must be built. We must study what little information we have about them from the Native Americans and those with long term habituation. We must be aware these are people and we are studying another culture not some wild animal. They do and will have customs that we must learn and respect if we are to interact and learn about them. We must realize the truth about them, not all of them are the “benevolent keepers of the forest”. Like any culture they have a criminal or rogue element and we must be aware of and prepared for this.

We must find a way to communicate with them. Scott Nelson is doing ground breaking work but we must do more than just transcribe what they uttering and translate it. We need a primmer and we need it fast! We may find that there are dialects and different languages spoken across the geographic regions of the country.  I am fortunate that my area of research is near the infamous “Carter Farm”. Thanks to Mary Green’s work with Janice Carter we have a dictionary via her book “Fifty Years with Bigfoot”. The DNA study has vindicated Mary and her work. The dictionary of Bigfoot words and phrases contained in her book will be a valuable tool.

I am already receiving some disgruntled comments from those who think I should cover the exterior of my house with video surveillance gear. First off I tried that, does not work. Second when I was recording constantly I found there is no way to watch that much footage! If I recorded at night that is 12 hours a day! Even on fast speed it takes at least 2 hours per day to watch and to be honest with multiple cameras I just do not have that kind of time! Plus I think this is counterproductive. My goal is no longer to “prove” Bigfoot exist but to study and interact. So if my house is bristling with dozens of electronic recording devices that does not send a friendly “come and visit” message. I hope one day to make contact sitting out back at night. That will not be done with video cameras running.
Those who follow Bigfoot research will need to be patient because the progress will be slow. Advancements will be made in inches not feet. Building a rapport with a local group of Bigfoot will take time, effort, and patience from us all.

The next phase of Bigfoot research is going to be exciting but I see many of the “fair weather” Bigfoot fans and researchers moving on to the next “big thing”.  That usually happens when the “real work” begins.

The Rock Games Begin!

Seems the Bigfoot may finally be taking interest in a rock stack I made a few weeks ago. I started placing rocks in different patterns on top of a stump at the edge of the hill beside our home. This location is right up the hill from where we've been seeing our nightly visitors. About once a week I'll make changes to the layout of the rocks. The last time I changed them was 12/22/13.

On Christmas Day (12/25/13) I went out to look at them and found something very interesting about the two large rocks on the left side. The top rock had been completely flipped over and placed back down!

When I saw this I did not touch or change anything about the stack, but left it alone to see if anything else would happen. Today (12/27/13) I noticed the small arrowhead shaped rock on top of the small stack of three had been turned just slightly.

After taking pictures, I rearranged the rocks again. Now we'll just wait and see if the games continue!

Some folks may say anything could have caused the small rock to be turned so slightly, and they may be right. However I firmly believe when dealing with establishing some sort of relationship/habituation you have to pay attention to and question the smallest details. The slightest adjustment to a rock could be communication of some sort...who knows? These guys are smart, possibly much smarter than we could ever imagine.

Enhanced Still Shots From Eyeglow Video

Fellow East Tennessee bigfoot researcher Scott Carpenter did some enhancement work on a few still shots he took from my eyeglow video. When I say "enhancements" I mean that he enlarged the eye and inverted the colors to bring out more detail. No other changes were made so what you see is what was there.

Bigfoot Home Visitations - Eyeglow Update

Well, last night (12/6/13) was interesting to say the least. For the past couple weeks things have been pretty quiet. The only exception has been the nightly glowing eye down in the woods. Last night we had some friends over and as usual things eventually led into a Bigfoot conversation. We had just finished watching the eyeglow video and decided to go out on the porch and see if it was actually there. Just like clockwork there it was. Almost like it was waiting on us to come outside.
While watching it we were discussing all options of anything else it could be when all of a sudden it dropped down about 5 feet in an extremely quick and smooth fashion. It appeared that it had been standing up and then dropped to the ground or at least a squatting position.  Not a sound was heard. At that point it started to slowly move side to side and get extremely bright when we would talk to it.
After seeing that I went inside to get a granola bar to throw down to it while my friend stayed out on the porch. I was almost to the door heading back outside when my friend came inside and said he wasn't staying out there by himself after what he just heard! He said as soon as I went inside he heard loud heavy bipedal footsteps walking through the woods directly in front of the cabin.
If this was the case that would mean there were more than one out there as that area is approximately 30-40 yards to the right of where the eye was.
We went back outside and this time my friends wife came with us. I asked her to speak to it to see what would happen as there have been interesting results in my past research when a female would be around or speaking. When she started talking to it the eye would glow extremely bright and move back and forth.
I then walked out into the backyard to toss the granola bar down the hill toward the glowing eye. My friends stayed on the porch and said when I went out into the yard they could see it turn toward my direction glowing brightly.
Once back on the porch we heard one of the corn feeders I have set up down in the woods start to rattle like something was trying to get corn. The feeders were empty so maybe they were asking for more corn??
I did not have the camera running of course as it was a spur of the moment thing that we went outside. It most definitely will be running tonight and I also have an audio recorder running all night strapped to a tree about 15 feet away from where we are seeing the eyeglow.

Knock Knock...Who's There?? - Wood Knock Reply Captured On Audio

Wood Knocking - Thought to be a method of communication used by Sasquatch/Bigfoot to locate or warn each other across a given distance using a sound that resembles a wood upon wood knocking sound therefor the given name "Wood Knocking"

So it seems the strange events continue around our home near the Smoky Mountain National Park...
As I have noted in previous blog post, we live in a very rural and secluded area right at the edge of the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. Over the past month or two we have been having quite a few strange happenings around our home. Twice lately we have had loud banging on the side of our home around 1 in the morning. Last week close to midnight while watching TV we heard three VERY loud wood knocks in the woods just down the hill in front of the house. Several instances of eye-glow, heavy footsteps walking just inside the treeline by our home and a constant feeling of being watched.
On November 11th, 2013 I was out on my front porch late in the evening and was attempting to stir up some action and gain a response to wood knocking. Although it has taken several missed opportunities and lessons un-learned, I have finally trained myself to always take the digital recorder with me when outside our home at night... this time it payed off.
On this particular night I made three very loud knocks with two small pieces of 2x4 lumber and just waited. About 25 seconds later a response of three knocks almost identical to mine was heard (and recorded) from the woods across the valley from my home.
A similar thing had happened a few nights earlier only much closer and I didn't have the recorder going (one of those lessons un-learned). I had done the same "three knock" pattern and about 20 seconds later a very fast and loud "two knock" pattern answered back from the woods across my driveway.

Loss Of Innocence - Repost By Scott Carpenter

A good friend and fellow researcher Scott Carpenter reposted a write-up he did a while back which in my opinion is excellent advice for anyone interested in the study of Bigfoot. I can't even begin to describe how accurate he is in this article...

The "Loss of Innocence" - Advice to Aspiring Bigfoot Researchers - Re-Post

Over the past few weeks the Finding Bigfoot episode that I was in has aired a couple times. This has prompted a few inquiries about Bigfoot Research in general and what it takes to "get started". I posted this article several months ago and it expresses my thoughts to those wanting to get into "Bigfoot Research" as a "hobby".

The "Loss of Innocence" - Advice to Aspiring Bigfoot Researchers

I used to love the outdoors. I would go out alone and wander around in the forest, exploring new places, the further off the beaten path the better. I would go into the National Park and select a drainage and just go, walk in for a couple hours then turn around and walk back out. I preferred to hunt deer alone, finding spots so deep in the thickets that no one else would even dream of going back into these places. Every now and then I would get the feeling I was being watched, but I would shrug the feeling off and go back to enjoying my day.

The actual location of the encounter
Those days are no more; the wilderness has lost its wonder. It is no longer a place of peace and serenity. It all changed for me on a sunny June day in 2009 while fishing. I was casting a point of land that was part of a public recreation area. I made some silly sounding “whooping” calls why I do even know.  I was just messing around imitating what I had watched in a YouTube video. Then the most amazing thing happen, something came tearing down through the woods. It was breaking limbs and crashing around in the thick underbrush. My jaw dropped and I was in shock as I stared at the shoreline. It stayed back in the shadows and I could only catch glimpses of sunlight on it from time to time. It acted like it was looking for something. It would go up the bank to the right and then the left. While all this was going on I was fumbling with the trolling motor trying to put some distance between it and me. After a couple minutes I heard a very clear “humph” three or four times. Then I heard it walk back into the woods slowly until it was out of range. It took me several minutes to compose myself as I sat down in the bottom of my fishing boat.

This event would change everything. I had to find out what had made this noise. Even though I had a sighting when I was a child, this event was the catalyst; this event started me on this journey, this “quest for the truth”.

Over the past three years I have seen and experienced things that are unbelievable. The average person has no idea what is going on in the wilderness. I can no longer go into the woods in a state of “ignorant bliss” and just enjoy it. I know what is out there, I know what is watching and lurking in the shadows.

I do still enjoy being out but it is different now. It is hard to explain to those who have never experienced it, but the Bigfoot “know that you know” and this changes everything. I have a difficult time deer hunting because of interference from the Bigfoot. I go on family outings in the National Park with relatives that have no clue about Bigfoot or that I research and we will hear “strange sounds” or encounter “odd smells”.

I can not explain this but some people are what I called “marked” by the Bigfoot. No matter where you go, if there are Bigfoot in the area they will find you and make themselves known to you. On average it takes a couple days in an area for the “locals” to find you. Then all the “odd” stuff begins to happen.

My “loss of innocence” is compounded when you throw in the other crytpids that have shown up. I had only heard rumors about the “Dogman” until I captured it on video and then later made direct eye contact with one. I was not looking for them and definitely did not want to see one.  It is a shock to the system when you begin to realize what you have been taught all your life is wrong and that your “reality” is not the truth. You have heard the old saying, “be careful what you wish for, you just might get it”. Well I found out how true this statement is. To be honest I am still adjusting to this “new reality”. Gone are the days when the woods were a place of solitude, peace, and wonder. It is now a place where the “Monsters” live and they do not respect your “reality”.

I get several request from people all the time “where can I go to see a Bigfoot”, “what can I do to have an encounter”, and “I want to know the truth about them”. My first piece of advise would be are you sure that is what you really want? The “truth” is a very sharp double-edged sword and is no respecter of persons or your belief system.

I have been bursting many bubbles lately when I talk to people. My advice now comes with stern warnings about being cautious, going armed, never going in the woods alone, do not take your children with you, if you’re a woman be extra careful. I can hear the disbelief in the voices of those hearing this for the first time. Those who think like I once did; the “benevolent keeper of the forest” is not always so benevolent and he is not the only cryptid out there.

So this is my advice or better my warning to those who want to “research Bigfoot” or “find the truth”, find another hobby, this is not what you think it is. If you still insist then be ready for a shock to your belief system, be ready to throw out everything you think you know. When you think it can’t get any “weirder” it will and there are very few people who you can tell or talk about this with. You will be called a crackpot, crazy, insane, out of touch with reality, idiot, and these are just the ones I can repeat. You will experience things you can not record on film or produce “evidence” of, you will be frustrated constantly by camera malfunctions, blobsquatches, and noises you plainly heard but your equipment did not pick up.

There are also the unintended consequences of research, home visitations. Yes in many cases they will follow you home, do not ask how or why I just know they do. Then your friends and family will really thing you are a lunatic.

Finally I have one more warning to give you, with knowing the truth comes responsibility.   What do you tell the woman that calls you who is all excited about researching Bigfoot and loves to go out into the woods all by herself? When you see that a child has gone missing in a wildness area you will wonder. When phone calls come from scared people who have a Bigfoot habitation around their home what do you tell them? When you talk to a person that has just had an encounter and they called you because you’re the “local researcher” what do you tell them? What are you going to say to calm their nerves? How are you going to reassure them that it is ok, they are not crazy, what they saw is real.

Some who research seek anonymity to avoid the above but it will be difficult if you choose to go this route, you will be faced with choices to speak out or be silent and there are consequences to both decisions.

So in closing my final word to you is take up golf or fishing it is safer and less stressful, but if you insist on perusing "Bigfoot Research" be prepared for your “loss of innocence”.

Possible Activity At Home - October '13

We've had something interesting going on around the house here lately and in particular the last two nights. We have a small fall display down the hill beside our driveway just out of sight of our house. It consist of a hay bale, one large and two small pumpkins, two small scarecrows and an old watering can with flowers in it. Two nights ago we noticed one of the smaller pumpkins was missing. I searched high and low and it was nowhere to be found.

The missing pumpkin was on the left side in front of the little scarecrow.

Last night I decided to place half a chocolate poptart I the exact same spot that the missing pumpkin had been.
This morning I was on my way down the driveway heading to work and noticed the second small pumpkin was about 20 feet down the driveway. I stopped the truck and got out to find that the poptart was gone along with one of the small scarecrows we have staked down in the hay bale (the one on the right). After spending several minutes looking for the missing scarecrow, my only conclusion was that something possibly took it last night.

This is only one of several odd happenings around our home in the past couple weeks. We have a close friend of ours that lives in a small portable building across the driveway from our house. On two different nights he has had something large hit the side of his building around 1-2am. He would immediately go outside only to find all is quiet and nothing around. If this is indeed bigfoot related, I'm not feeling that it is the same group that came around last fall. These guys seem more sneaky and not as bold about letting themselves be known. That is up untill the last couple weeks. We have company coming in this weekend. That usually stirs things up some so we'll just wait and see what happens. I may step up my gift offerings by leaving items in a broader area around the property. Up until now most of my gift leaving has been centered around the back yard. Nothing like bigfootin' in the fall!

EyeGlow

Eyeglow... A phenomenon often reported and experienced during bigfoot sightings or encounters. It seems that at least some Sasquatch are able to emit glowing light from the eyes and are possibly able to control the level of brightnes. There have been various colors of this phenomenon witnessed. Colors such as a soft "glow stick" green... an amber orange similar to the end of a cigarette... an electric/crystal blue... yellowish white and just a plain bright white. Red also seems to be a very common color. Anything from as bright as a hunters red headlamp to what appears to be an intense red LED dot.

Some in the "Bigfoot world" refer to this as eyeshine, but I have a hard time using this word to describe the experiences I have had. Several other individuals have shared these experiences with me and I feel sure they would say the same.

In my opinion, Eye "shine" is the reflection of light on the eyes caused by an outside light source. Example: camera flash, headlights or street lights.
Eye "glow" is different. Many reports tell of the eyes actually emitting light in locations where there is complete darkness or at least where there is no surrounding light source to cause a reflection in the eyes.
Most encounters I have in the national park and around my home are of this type.

Honestly, to me it is a complete mystery how or why they do it, but in the locations I visit there are no artificial light sources such as street lights. Some argue that starlight is even enough to cause eye "shine" and that may be true. However, in this case I must disagree...this is a glow that I see, not a reflection. Those who have witnessed this phenomenon will tell you there is most certainly a distinguishable difference.

The color white seems to occur often when they are on the move. On multiple occasions I've seen the white glow moving through the forest as if someone is walking with a dim flashlight 8 feet off the ground. White flashes similar to that of a camera will happen at one end of an area and soon a return flash from the other side will be seen as if there’s some sort of silent communication going on. Up in trees we have seen what looks like a small flashlight slowly fade on and appear to be looking around. As soon as they realizes we see them it will instantly go out.

During the winter when there is less foliage on the trees, visibility deeper into the forest is greater. Many times they will appear way back in the woods at full brightness, perfectly still and white in color. It’s very similar to a Coleman lantern being held up or "floating" by itself. The last time this happened we looked at it through binoculars. What appeared as a single bright white light to the naked eye was actually two brightly lit eyes when looked at through the binoculars.

What does all this mean? That's a good question for which  I've heard many opinions, but the truth has yet to be heard. In my opinion, I believe it serves a multitude of purposes. A silent means of communication, some sort of night vision, different colors for different moods... Who knows.

This is a subject that has always intrigued me. It also is a phenomenon that has occurred in many of my most intimate and extreme interactions with this people. It’s a subject I truly hope to learn more about and to hear others experiences.

Missing Bear

I've been very excited to post this update for over a week, but due to being out of town I am just now able to do so.
The weekend before last I returned to my research area and also camped overnight at the nearby campground. The stuffed bear I had left as a gift was gone and the flowered necklace I had hung in the tree was relocated and laying across the gifting tree. It was laying across the tree right where I leave the food gifts. I thoroughly searched the area for the stuffed bear with no results. It was completely gone!

The bear as I left it two weeks ago...

The flowered necklace as I left it two weeks ago...

I also found a couple of logs on the ground nearby with several small limbs laid parallel to each other and seemed very out of place.
